"These Are the Things That Make a Man: Iron enough to make a nail, Water enough to drown a dog, Sulfur enough to stop the fleas, Poison enough to kill a cow, Strengh enough to build a home, Time enough to hold a child and Love enough to break a heart. (...) She'd cry, later, for the wintersmith who wanted to be human." (Terry Pratchett, Wintersmith)
I got confused and painted the Wintersmith holding a key instead of a nail. But it can be read as an analogy of he giving the key of his kingdom to Tiffany, as he asks her to be his queen...
I pictured him very young, and pretty, like a god of winter would be, very handsome and cold. And Tiffany had to be very impressive in this scene too, I guess. I just remember so vividly, her saying goodbye to her dress made of dancing light, to her glittering crown, the ice roses and the snowflakes, when all was melting away, and all she could think of was 'Such a shame. Such a shame'. It's such a moving moment. Wintersmith. read. b.
Tiffany looks a bit odd, but I LOVE the way you depicted the Wintersmith. I'm only on page 132, but I've never cared much about spoilers... He's so sweet-looking!
Actually, just reading the comments for this picture, I'm realizing how awesome it is. This goes in my favorites!
I have to stop buying 4 discworld books every month! But now I want to read "Wintersmith" even more! ;.; He really looks like winter and ice. His eyes are so cold... I wonder, if he even nows what love is, or if he just wants to know what warmth feels like. I don't know the book, but I'm pretty sure that you captured it perfectly well. its a beautiful picture.
